I have Outlook Express for my email. Would that change with Foxfire? Does it change anything else?

Exactly what is Firefox? Does it take the place of internet explorer? I am helplessly computor challenged, so I don't have a clue about a lot of this stuff.

your internet explorer is the browser you use to access the internet, Firefox is simply of many others there are out there.

Internet Explorer is a web browser. Firefox is another brand of web browser, so yes, it would be used instead of IE. However, you can keep both on your computer. You don't have to replace IE with Firefox (or Chrome, Opera, Safari, or the others out there).

When you download Firefox, what do you do to make Firefox work and stop Internet Explorer?

I have a Mac and I use Firefox at times. It is the only way I can download some things.

Then someone told my husband about "Firefox". It is a free download browser. He downloaded it first and the speed he gained was amazing, so I downloaded it too. I am totally amazed!! My computer has never performed as well. Talk about speeding things up!! Wow!! I can still use my hotmail only now it flies!! If you are having this problem try it....You can always switch back if you aren't satisfied...I am extremely happy with Firefox though....

Ditter43 are you on dialup or broadband or what? I am on dialup and can't even use the Quilting Board chat room, I keep getting booted out by dialup. We are one mile out of AT&Ts range for broadband or DSL. I am miserable but can't even do satellite out here.
I am really lucky, I'm in OK but I have cable.

You just put an icon on your desktop and click that instead of the IE icon.

If you want to uninstall IE, go into Add & Remove Programs (via Control Panel), select it and click Remove.
