Thank you, everyone! I did read the forum rules and won't be here just to sell, but I do also want to learn more, maybe get Mom inspired again. Also, my youngest daughter is still at home and very interested in anything "fiber arts." So, we shall see where this takes us.

The blue butterfly is a part of about a dozen vintage blocks we found in Mom's stuff - even she doesn't remember where they're from. Butterflies appliqued on feed sacking. The feed sack material has been bleached for use, but you can still see the print on some. 1930s or 40s?

Welcome, Hope you get the quilting bug. Just like riding a bike if you learned as a child you'll get back into it. It can be so theraputic or lead you to therapy- haha. Hang on to those treasures until you're sure you won't use them. Sounds like you likely have fabric us vintage lovers would all drool over. If you insist on sharing - send some of us a pm - we'll would take them and pay the shipping.

I think you have quite a treasure trove. I can just picture those butterflies made up in a quilt, they are so nice. I remember having dresses and skirts made from feed sacks as a child. I could go with my dad when it was time to buy seed so I could pick out patterns I liked for a new dress. I quilted many years ago, self taught, then stopped for about 20 years. I found this website, and now , after seeing all the pretty things, I'm thinking to start again. I must learn new cutting technics now to make it easier. I have arthritis in my fingers and thumbs so using the cutting tools can be painful. But I"m just going to take it slower this time around. If your mom is able, get her started again.
