WARNING!! We have 2 newer irons that have the SAFTEY turn off switch on them for our quilting group. Make sure you get an iron with a LONG shut off time otherwise you are waiting for the dern thing to re-heat every time you want to use it. Even with 6-8 people sharing - it still turns off and then we WAIT..... Grrrrrr... VERY frustrating!!! I have an old G.E. that I keep on LINEN setting all day long. IT is a HOT one. No water in it but keep spray water on ironingboard. Hope this helps!

I just picked up a steam Iron from the thrift store and garage sales, I always have them plug it in and fill with a little water for me and check the steam. I just bought a black n decker one from local thrift store for $1.00 Can't beat those prices and if it goes kaput!!!! then it goes to the recycle bin. I still have my $2.00 one from a garage sale 4 years ago.

My feelings, exactly, I put distilled water in my spray bottle. I do not know if it is necessary but I have to buy it for my steamers anyway.
