Can't work with noise!
no TV,radio etc
I like the calm of my own thoughts.
quilting helps me deal with the rest of my life!

My daughter gave me a sound spa for Christmas last year. I like to turn it on and listen to birds sing or hear the ocean waves as I sew. It is calming and makes any difficut sewing easier.

Music, DVD of a movie I have already seen so that I won't get distracted, sometimes just me and my machine....It depends on what I am doing and the amount of concentration I need.

It is my 45 minutes to one hour of sanity a day. I retire to my sewing room upon arrival home from work and vegetate by quilting or just thinking about quilting.

Quilting keeps my mind from imploding!!!!

I listen to soft rock or my ipod, which has a variety of music on it. And sometimes I just like it quiet it depends on what kind of day I have had.

I listen to k.d. lang, Hymns from the 49th Parallel, Robbie Williams or the Indigo Girls while I piece/quilt/sew in my studio

sometimes I sit in silence and just vegetate

nice to have a room set aside for me in the house

Quilting is indeed therapy. Several years ago, when my younger brother died unexpectedly, I just couldn't stop quilting. I sewed and sewed and sewed. It helped get me through. I guess it helped me think, without being so painfully still. Anyway, I also get lost during a regular day of quilting and realize I have to make dinner at some point. Oh well!
