ghostrider: You truly are blessed to have such a wonderful sewing space. I've been to Keepsake Quilting a few times, and am like a kid in a candy store - so much fabric!

We have a hill in our back yard and if you walk to the top of it you have a beautiful view of Mt. Tamalpais in Marin County and of San Pablo Bay. I'd love to have a quilting room built up there. Just dreamin'

Oooh, Barbara, I don't think I could improve on your dream quilting place ... except maybe to add a big porch with rocking chairs for when I'm hand quilting with a hoop.

I've been thinking about this alot lately. My dream quilting place would be a place where women could gather. I'd like the nice view and a fireplace. I'd like a place to sit and have some coffee (separate from the quilting room). In that coffee room, I'd also like to have beer served and a big screen TV so much DH could come and visit with some "guys" while I quilt with my friends.

There's a brewery in Gloucester MA where there's a place to sit in rocking chairs and have a beer while knitting/crochetting. They get together once a month! I loved the idea.

    What's your dream quilting place?
What's the old saying? If Mohammed won't go to the mountain, then the mountain will have to go to Mohammed! I have a little table top fountain that gives me a lot of pleasure while I am sewing. I can look out to the east and see the sun rise over the house across the street. In the winter I can see the birds and squirrels fight over the food in the bird feeders. My sewing room (and I say that humorously) is a whole 6x11, and our city lot is 40 ft wide and I have my view over the smallest part of the yard - maybe 15 feet wide. But with a little imagination I have my sewing room in the mountains with a little trout stream going by and birds singing. Ain't life grand?

    Poem for the day!

I meant to do my work today --
but a brown bird sang in the apple tree,
and a butterfly flitted across the field,
and all the leaves were calling me.
And the wind went sighing over the land,
tossing the grasses to and fro,
and a rainbow held out its shining hand --
so what could I do but laugh and go.
    --Richard Le Gallienne--

    Have a good day. Edie

That place would be our former home in Nashua. It was in the city, but nestled in the woods all around. Built on a hillside so that the front was on ground level and the basement was at ground level in the back. Therefore, the basement had real windows! 12' sliding glass door out of the family room onto a patio, with deck above from the living room. VERY large L-shaped room in basement, but with all the windows not musty smelling. That was my sewing room. It was just down the street from the Covered Bridge - a 3-story craft heaven. Quilt shop was on first floor. Down the street from there was another quilt shop - Jacquie Paton's. All this was at the end of a dead end street not more than 1/2 mile from downtown.

Does this fill the bill? I still miss this place & we left there in 1991.
