Military families?

My nephew served 17 months in Iraq. He was home a year and was killed in a car accident. It was so hard to see him go over and was great to see him come home safely, then to lose him a year later....it wasn't suppose to happen like that. He was 23.

Our son just got back to GA to his home base after being in Iraq for about a year. His out date is Dec 25, and he has enough vacation time to leave GA in 2 weeks and not go back. He will have served 4 years in the Army.

My brother has served in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia(2 times), Korea, Iraq(3 times) and will be going to Afghanistan in Jan. He will be in the service for 16 yrs come June. My son who is my brothers God-son is also interested in a military career. He is 15 and in the JRROTC. If he decides to serve I know I'll be proud. I'm just not sure what else I'll feel.

My son has been in the area 3 times in the past 8 years, aboard ship each time except for meetings and planning sessions ashore. Now he's back at the Pentagon where he was on 9/11. He's been in the Navy for 24 years. DH served for 23 years, and SIL for 21.
