by the way, zyxquilts, that making faces is a hoot! I would love to do something like that at a workshop. Looks like tons of fun. You really have to put on your creative cap for those type of projects. I love it!

Thanks! It was a lot of fun....and I came home & dug out mine, which is at least to the layered stage (but I need to quilt it before I can embellish it so......lol), and snapped a pic. Here she is!

I find doing something for someone else inspires me more than just doing it for myself.
My heart is not pure gold cuz some of those old people can really get on your nerves.

I too like doing quilts for others, family and friends, etc. My biggest disappointment comes form people who say its too nice to use or words like that. I am not creating heirlooms, my work is not that great, but I enjoy what I do and would like for people who receive them to enjoy using them, not leave them in the closet or on a shelf because they don't want it to get dirty.

I remember my girlfriend's Gramma saying "Oh, I can't wear THAT! It's much too nice!" lol I like more a woman I saw on a talkshow once, who had been a bridesmaid several times. She decided that since she had paid good money for those dresses, she was going to wear them no matter what! So she & her friends started wearing all those "ugly" bridesmaid dresses to the grocery store, etc!
I was finding myself not using fabrics I had bought because they were "too cool to cut up"! Not any more! Go for it! Rotary cutters to the ready!

I get inspiration from MAGAZINES MAGAZINES MAGAZINES! and books. I look at all the issues several times. Then, I put them up for a while when I get new ones. When I get them out a few months later, it's all almost like new again. The projects that I really liked still jump out at me, and I know I'll have to make it. (someday, I'm just getting started).
When I'm shopping for fabrics, the fabrics themselves talk to me. They say where they'd look good at or for whom. The only problem is there are so many of them talking, I never get to listen to just one! :D
