when the grocery store recieves whole chickens they are in a heavy waxed box that is about 10 inches deep and 16"X18" with a lid
    it's heavy cardboard with wax

NO! That's so NOT right! When we get hotel rooms, we don't get maid service. We don't like ppl messing around with our stuff. If I'm/we are still there, like fixing something to eat or watching tv or just messing around, we've let them come in and give us new towels and take the trash. We usually bag up the trash and just get new bags and take the old towels out to the maids and get more. Yeah, yeah, I know...I must be crazy or weird or both, but my stuff is MINE, and I don't like it bothered. :D I about had a cow when the maid/janitor/housekeeping woman came in the hospital room when I had my last baby. SHe moved MY TOOTHBRUSH! and other things that had been on the sink. THen, she sprayed some foam cleaner, like scrubbing bubbles or something, around where my TOOTHBRUSH was at! And...I don't like to spray stuff like that in the room where my kids are...and I HAD A NEWBORN BABY LIKE 4 FEET FROM HER! She took my soap/shampoo out of the shower and wouldn't shut up! She had the nerve to touch the blanket the baby was wrapped up in with her germy gloves! Finally I told her to turn out the light on her way out because I wanted to take a nap. She just stood there for a minute looking at me...
After all that, I never even turned her in. I changed the blanket and went on. (and scrubbed and rinsed my toothbrush)...I just didn't have the energy left....

I love pizza boxes for storage for lots of needlework projects. You can buy small ones for embroidery projects you are working on. DNF

I have used new pizza boxes for a while now. I keep my applique blocks in them. Keeps the blocks clean and orderly. I get mine for free; I just ask for one at a time. Happy quilting

Hey mojo 11! I taught at Permian High School in Odessa. Our spirit word was MOJO and the 300 + member marching band spelled the word on the football field at every home game. I know you've got your mojo working. DNF

    Hi DorothyNell-
I'm fairly new to the message board so it is great to get a reply. Mojo is an adult nickname and it helps me keep my "mojo working". Wow - that song is really old now. I've not been to Odessa, but I have been to Midland and fell in love with HEB's. Wow -- what a store! I worked on applique for 2 weeks while there.

Odessa has an HEB store also, although the Midland store was built several years before the Odessa store.

What were you doing in Midland? I taught at Lee High School there for several years--it was Permian's chief football rival and it could really get ugly when the games were played in Midland!

That's one of the minor reasons I'm not a football fan.

Several of my quilting buddies do exquisite applique, but I am too impatient to do take the time required to do it. But I do admire it.

How long have you been on the forum? Do you belong to a guild? I belong to two and a sewing group that's mostly made up of women who own embroidery machines. I don't have one and don't want one...it seems to me that it requires far too much work to keep the machine in order, although the designs they do are very nice when the machine works.

If you can, post a picture of some of your applique work. I'm going to have to figure out how to post pictures.

I, so far, don't have to worry about this happening, I don't get to travel with quilting stuff.
