I've never tried the printer thing with tissue paper pasted to printer paper, but I do trace my quilting patterns onto tissue paper and then pin the tissue paper to the quilt top for quilting. Works great!

I don't think my printer would take tissue paper through. But the idea of spray basting the tissue paper is remarkable.

Why tissue paper? I print quilt designs on lightweight translucent vellum and machine stitch through it. Nice idea to use spray adhesive. I have been using tape to hold the paper in place.

Does her method leave glue residue on the quilt? seems like it would be difficult to get the tissue off.

My printer will use onion skin. I think that would work and you would have no worries about glue residue. If you do this, use the draft setting for your print quality and save ink.

I tried this with newsprint paper. Tore off pretty easily and the paper will go through the printer.

I would think the tissue paper might get stuck in the printer. If that were to happen there's no telling if the paper can be removed or stay permanently stuck. That, in turn, might put your printer out of commission. I don't think it's a good idea to run it thru the printer. If you have a scanner, use the glass and scan the pattern.

I would not send something through my printer that has spray adhesive on it, but that's just me.

I've never tried tissue paper. I use cheap vellum paper.
