I really like the fact Bonnie has us cut as we go. So many designers give cutting instructions for the whole quilt up front. Since I often make the blocks in a different way, it's so nice to see the clue before cutting. I have all the sets sewn and pressed and will trim down this evening or tomorrow. AND I finally got all the four patches sewn and trimmed.

Iceblossom -- Bonnie wrote that she might be putting out some clues mid-week. Are you keeping up with that or should we check her webpage to see if new clues appear? I'm lazy and like coming here to get the clues but will start checking her pages if needed.

I can add a regular check to Bonnie's page but I am good about checking my email and she is good about sending those out but so far the Clues have been posted before I received the email. I am also good on checking in here

But hey, we are all part of this and if someone just happens to stumble on it -- please go ahead and post!

I don't think of my stash as huge. Because of back problems, I have to have everything where I can reach it without much bending, and our small house can only accommodate so many shelving units. Aqua is one of the colors Bonnie has used repeatedly in her mysteries, and most years I have bought aqua to supplement what I had. As for the coral, I was unhappy with my On Ringo Lake because my corals ended up being so orange. A few years ago, I thought about re-doing that quilt and bought some more corals with that in mind, but it never happened. So really, I just lucked out this year with Bonnie's color choices, ha!

Thank you for the reminder on the possibility of extra clues! I had already forgotten about that.

I am going ahead with my wrong cut HST. I used to worry a lot more about grain but then never really noticed much issue when fussy cutting. Tell you what, it is sure fast and easy right now and I can probably handle some fiddling on another round. But it will be a good learning lesson, already knowing what I did wrong -- now I'll know if I can let this sort of thing slip by or not.

If I do have problems, I would think this would be a time to consider starch? I usually don't (like haven't in 30 or so years). I do crisp iron, stack neatly, pin and let my machine do the work (instead of pulling on it)

Going down the rabbit hole. It's about this time that I think, I can do two! So, I am doing one in my favorite colors and one totally scrappy. No sets, just from my scrappy squares. The only thing I have had to cut so far is the large sections of the flying geese. Of course, I have several chunks of neutral to cut those. Love seeing everyone's colors and progress.

So my teenager walked by my sewing space, and saw my completed week 4 that I’ve spent the whole day working on.

’Those clips are so cute’ she tells me.

Are you kidding me? I make a bajillion half square triangles, and you notice the pegs holding the sets together?
    She’s lucky I like her 🤣😜

    I enjoy seeing everyone’s progress.

I have all of my fabric cut out for all 4 steps. Of course I’m only using one fabric for each color, so it’s easy to cut. Plus I’m using the essential ruler. Starting tomorrow I will be sewing on all four clues. I am cutting exactly what she calls for for this mystery. If I like the layout and have enough fabric, I will enlarge to my alternate king size top (85-90” long to 125” wide). But I believe I have a few weeks before I need to decide. I figure/guess the big reveal on or shortly after NYD.

    Belfrybat, I love your corals!

I have not made much progress on clue #4. I finally got my corals and neutrals sprayed last night; will see what I can get done pressing today.

I have all my sets for Clue 4 sewn, pressing and trimming will be tomorrow's task for my sewing group. So I am feeling pretty good about progress, even if I am slightly concerned about my bias edges. Oh well.

I am also (finally!) officially half way through pressing my Clue 2 4-patches. Yay me

Having a weekly work group is a lot of fun for me and always a prod to have something ready to take to group. It has changed my construction methods and style, things like the pinning I do now is to have something to do at group. Then I found my results were better and now I do it all the time even if the project isn't traveling.

I got pretty spoiled when my husband worked for a box making company... but I found a couple boxes at costco to help me sort/keep track of these clues. Nutella seems to be a great size! Baggies to keep the units together but boxes to keep them flat.
