I like some of the Bonnie Hunter quilts, like Celtic Solstice, but most of them seem far too busy for my taste.

Exactly my feeling about her mysteries. Way too busy. This time I printed it all out at the end, I do like it and and maybe will do it in different colors, maybe not even scrappy.

The one that finished last January 2017, I got it together the end of January, to the LA in February and has been sitting on a table still not bound. It's over year now, I probably should jut finish it so I can stick it in the linen closet and forget about it. I really do not like Provance. I did it because I liked her color choices, but not the way it looked when done.

Ah, Mary, I was thinking the same thing!

Cheese - love those colors, so restful. And you get the prize for being done in a bit more than 24 hours!

Judy, I really needed to get them finished today, we are leaving for Wisconsin on Wednesday. I know when I get home there will be so many things that needs to be done, that's why I opted for the big push today. Looking forward to the next clue/reveal on May 5th.

    Mary - lol!

I normally don't have near the problem with background. I think I had something in my mind's eye and just could not get it right.

I washed it and it bled so bad that I'm going to run it through again. I've got all my other pieces cut.

Macy do you use Color Grabbers when washing fabric? Really, really helps. Gets rid of all that excess dye that woudl end up in your light colors.

    Yes I use color catchers.

Here is a picture showing one from the second wash (dark)and one from the third wash (much lighter) . I tossed in 2 for each load since I had a lot of yardage.

the first wash was with another dark fabric, and I pulled the navy out and tossed it in the dryer, but when I pulled the brown out it had a blue tinge to it. Then I realized I'd forgot to put color catchers in the wash! So I put the brown back in with a couple of color catchers and ran the wash cycle while I dried the Navy. the color catchers in with the brown came out quite blue, so I ran it through a third time and that time the color catchers came out much lighter and the fabric didn't look blue anymore. Made me realize there must still be a lot of dye in the navy, so after it was dried I tossed it back in the wash, and the catchers came out so dark that I ran it a third time.

But my "experiment" really did show how much die the color catchers grab on to. I've also beleived that drying would help set the dye, but it really didn't.
