The smaller Walmart here remodeled last year sometime, but the fabric dept. is large. the employee told me they won't get rid of it because of the feedback from customers. Maybe they changed their minds?

My Walmart in Sugarland lost theirs maybe 6months to a year ago, and now Richmond's store has lost their fabric. I have a feeling most of you will be loosing your fabric sections soon.

Waynesboro, VA - They state they are keeping fabric dept., but next week they're moving it to the back corner of the store and downsizing. Haven't seen any new better grade fabrics in the store in months, only the 2.oo a yd stuff.

I would love to write them a letter an let them know about taking out the fabric departments.

Back in 2005 when they were threatening to remove our yarn and fabric, clerks in the department gave us an 800 No. to call. We passed the number to everyone interested in keeping the department. We bombarded them with complaints. Result: We still have our fabric and yarn and sales have increased.

Appleton, WI on Casaloma Blvd. has fabric, even though there is a Hancock's store in the same strip mall! Joann's Fabrics is also within walking distance of WalMart. Seems to me that WalMart has fabric that ranges from "not too bad" to "like cheesecloth"!!

So right you are! The reason seemsto be that electronics earn more per sq foot than fabric but how many repeat customers are they going to get. You can only buy so many TVs etc.

There are 4 Walmart stores within a 20 mile radius and none carry fabric anymore. Cookville is about 35-40 miles oneway. When making quilts for the little kids to drag/carry around I dont like to pay $9-$10 per yd. (I live in TN.)
