    Here's a real beauty:

Reminds me of a Durkopp treadle.

Someone should explain to the seller the difference between "used" and misused"

I remember this machine/seller from a CL ad posted in this thread a some weeks ago at $1500(?).

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/art/4795348488.html

It needs a complete restore. The table is shot, the motor is doubtful, etc. I'd pay $200, maybe a little more.

I mostly agree. I think the table is salvageable, the frame looks ok, the motor is a maybe at best.

But I'd give 3-400 to make it a treadle... Not for quite a while though....

I agree, the table frame looks all right. The wood looks fairly warped and not worth my time to fix but I'm not a woodworker by any stretch.

A few weeks ago I think you(?) posted an ad for the same or similar machine that was completely restored, a CL listing in the Bay Area I believe. Amazing machine. That would be my goal.

Have you seen a Singer 7-31 in any condition for $200+ around your area?

Industrial machines are worth a lot more than your household machine.

The only Singer 7 I've seen offered in my area is the one being discussed above. A machine is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay.

I used the mechanic’s stool (Craftsman 5-wheel) at my Singer 319W this morning to mend a belt loop on a pair of denim jeans. The treadle stand and stool both are on a (slick) hardwood floor. I sewed a piece of scrap denim into the inside of the jeans to replace the missing fabric and re-enforce the hole, then used a narrow zigzag to re-attach the belt loop with a bar tack.

The stool is the same height as the old claw-foot stool that I’ve been using, until I sit on it and mush the piston down about an inch, so while seated, it’s a little shorter. I did have issues with getting a twist in my body trying to say hooked up with the treadle, and solved it by positioning my left foot out further from the treadle to get a little more leverage. That worked for this small task, but I’m still not convinced that it will be a workable solution when more sewing needs to be done. I’ll give it another whirl again someday.
