    I was going to say the red, but once you put the red there it seems to be too much... wonder if you just used a plain red? or black...

    I like the first one. It keeps the focus on that beautiful red! Great job.

    I would do the black then the red; all of my teachers tell me that you have to give the eyes a place to rest so that the quilt can be fully enjoyed.

    The first is elegant. I like the second because the fabric draws the eye back to the center.
