Appliqued Memory Quilt - rest of the story
#24
After my husband died two years ago, I started a quest to make a quilt for every member of my family. Made a quilt for each of my grandchildren out of his shirts, and included a picture of them with him in the quilt. Each quilt includes a very special label which I always personally sign for them....It is my hope when I am gone in a hundred years this personal gift from me will have meaning. So much more than money....but a part of myself.

So sorry, yet so happy for you.... When you posted your quilt I spent a lot of time looking at it with my husband (I rarely share QB with him). We were both so impressed, and we spent a lot of time over each picture. What you expressed in that quilt was so REAL... just like life really was in the past early-mid century. I down-loaded your pictures, wondering if I could ever do such a wonderful family history.... I know it would never be THAT good, but my head keeps filling with images of my childhood on a cattle ranch, and its so foreign to my grandchildren (my kids love the tales and images, the grandkids don't really relate).
All of this is saying THANK YOU for sharing. I'm so glad she got to look at it many times. How wonderful you had an "early" celebration! God bless you all.
