this has a video to show how it is used. I bought it when I took a FMQ class and I love it!!! To me, it was worth the $30!

I just saw in a catalog on line about using a spray slick stuff for on your machine bed to make it slick and it doesn't hurt the machine. Sounds good to me.

A shower curtain may work too, would have to try it.

Do they use those sliders on long arms too or just domestic machines?

I went to True Value Hardware and got a large piece of plexiglass. I measured where I wanted the hole for the machine needle etc. My husband cut it for me and now I have a combo slider and table extension for very little $$. I think I paid $23 and it is at least twice the size of the big Slider. I used double sided sticky tape along one edge to make sure it didn't move (and it hasn't). I can remove it from my sewing table (a vintage FW table) anytime I want if I change machines since I have that capability with two other vintage machines that I have.

You will find that the plastic isn't as slippery as the teflon sheet but it can be improved if you spray it with a little silicone spray. It is not greasy, non scented, and non staining. It is available at upholstery supply and on the internet. Maybe locally if you live in a large enough area. You can also spray the plastic with pledge and wipe it off before using.

I've used the teflon applique sheets and taped them down to the machine. Worked well. I just cut a hole for the needle.

I recently gave a FM workshop, not with the intention of selling the slider. I did have one I passed around, comment from one student
" I did not see the difference when using it, until I did not have it anymore". She did order one.
Once she passed it on for someone else to try she found it HAD made it easier.
I was sold on it when it made FM soooo much easier with the fusiable batting against my machine. (no backing).
I don't have to tape it down to stay put, like I would think you have to do when using an alternative.
