I have been machine embroidering for many years and I have a second bobbin case for embroidery bobbin fill. I take this second case and a bobbin of my preferred bobbin fill to my service agent and have them twig the bobbin tension to suit that particular bobbin fill. I rarely ever have this problem.
Another cause is a tiny bit of fluff or thread caught in the bobbin case. Take your bobbin case out and thoroughly clean it.
If this problem has not happened before maybe this could be an answer.
Hope this helps.

Your upper or needle thread tension is too tight. Hit the minus icon down a few. Also, stabilizer could be a factor. AND, on top of any knits you need to use the light, clear layer that just tears away when you are finished. You also use it on terry cloth too. Underneath you should use a permanent, medium to light stabilizer.

Thanks everyone for the reply. I got it all figured out with everyones help here.. it made me think a little more. What I did was wrapped the bobbin thread around the tension disk 3 times before I wound the bobbin. It worked like a charm. I can not believe how much less bobbin thread is used now when I embroidery. I am going to hope to attach before and after pictures just to show the mega huge difference.

I have a Brother Embroidery Machine about 10 yo. If my machine is not squeaky clean it will bring up the bobbin thread. I usually loosen the tention and I also always use bobbin thread. I prefer the prefilled embroidery bobbins.

Go to emblibrary.com and under the projects link they have instructions on embroidering on sweatshirts; maybe that will help. They have alot on different stabilizers and things. It's a great site. Prices are good and once you order they'll send you special deals. Like I just got10 designs for $10 and I could have used that code up to 3 times. This month is my birthday so they sent me an email where I can either take 10% of designs or %50 of design packs depending on which way is cheaper so I have all month to decide what I want with that.
