    I don't know if twinkie answered in a PM. I was hoping someone with a similar machine would reply. I don't know if you have seen the thread at Grover & Baker lockstitch machine which I think is similar to your machine. I believe the threading would go something like this.

    The thread would go from the spool to what I think is a thread guide (circled in yellow) then down to the tension discs. Between the tension discs and back up. After that, I think it would go through from front to back of the top guide in the nose (part of needle bar) then as you have it and thread the needle from left to right. I'm not sure what needle this machine would need, but highly doubt that it is a 15x1.

    What is the serial number on that? Fiddlebase has a dating page for this marque. I don't believe it's as old as you state, since that type of treadle was used in the later machines, like after 1866 or so. I have an almost identical one which is actually an 1870 machine.
