As important as the color of your walls is the type of lighting. I would go with "daylight bulbs" although they are hard to find. Light the room the same as if you were an artist and were lighting the room to paint in. Different types of electric lights will project/and or highlight some colors. It depends on how much of a purist you are.

The color of your lighting affects colors a lot more than the color of the walls.

I am going to paint mine aqua, just love that color as well as purple, but I can't imagine purple walls for a room. I think aqua is more soothing

My sewing room is a light lavender with a eggplant purple accent wall. I have my white shelves that hold my fabrics on the accent wall and I love how it looks. I love the colors but when I get to redecorate or we move, I am going with a light green.

I am in the same situation, going to paint and re-design my sewing room. I am soooo bad at making a color decisions, afraid to make a mistake. I have off white carpet and am thinking of a very pale silver gray. I have 2 beautiful wing back chairs I would have recovered in seal gray fabric. Lighting is natural bulbs in pot lights and I found two matching lights to have on each side of the cutting area ( no shadows, found this idea when installing my husbands pool table in the man-room). But, I could have picked the wrong color!
