Using two colors is doable. Just use the same weight and manufacture and the tension should not be an issue.

back in the day when women actually wore hose and coordinated them to the outfit or the shoes I was told that taupe goes with anything & it did. It actually has a sort of grey cast (to my eyes, anyway) I would follow the recommendations of the others who recommended a neutral - even if it doesn't look like it works, sometimes after actually using it, it will work

Why not use the variegated threads on top and bottom

On the quilting, I'd go for something like a meander - so if there is a bit of slippage on the lining up of the two sides, it won't really matter.

It's really really hard to line up a top and bottom exactly.
Man, Bear, you are so right about the lining up. It was a nightmare. Next time I do this I'll pin it and hope to get better results instead of the 505. I can't meander yet, so, it's STID or cross hatch.

FYI, I found a light grey thread that will work. Y'all are the best!

Great idea! a meandering pattern wouldn't clash with either the baseballs or the violins.

I would avoid Stitch in the Ditch - because as careful as one is in lining up - one will probably be a little bit off - and then the stitching would be 'on' on one side and 'off' on the other .

    (Ask me how I know)
