That is terrific, I have horses and the saddle pads are expensive and not much to look at. Now that's one fancy horse and I'm sure he is comfortable too!

My favorite project, I made a quilted dressage saddle pad for a Christmas present for my sister 2 years go. Her eventing colors are royal purple and black. The top is duck cloth, the backing is flannel, and the padding is 1/4" foam. I was able to use my run of the mill $100 machine to do the top, but I had to use my mom's industrial machine to do the quilting and binding. I also had to use glue spray to keep the layers together for quilting. A coworker of mine does embroidery as a side business, so I had her put the horse's name on the back left-hand side. The saddle pad is holding up well and my sister loves it.

Wow! Did you use a pattern for the saddle pad? Can you tell me where I might find it? My daughter is a long time equestrian and I would LOVE to know how you made this beauty!

What a neat bunch of projects in this thread! I hope others will add theirs. I haven't been quilting long enough to have a favorite yet .

Well I do not know if I could narrow it down to just one, but these are in the running. I made a blue Log Cabin for my husband Jim, and a sleeping Teddy Bear for my sister's grandson. I had a lot of fun with both, and used up many scraps of blue for the Log Cabin.

Bet the horse was happy and comfortable. Really impressive. Headed to an estate sale. A quilters house!

Thanks! I'll post a "how to" sometime in the next few days. I made the pattern up myself after I heard my sister complaining about not being able to find any multicolored saddle pads in her eventing colors. I have a few "in the making" pictures, but I didn't get many during the quilting process.
