I am currently making my way through all of the seasons of the original "Dallas" on DVD while in my sewing room! Love that show and remember watching it when it was on back in the 80's. I like the new Dallas also but the old ones are so awesome.

Either quiet or Christian Rock. The light movement on TV distracts my attention.
I'd like to get some good instumentals.

Sewnoma what is Pandora?
"My PC lives in my sewing room, so usually I stream internet radio while I sew. I have a Pandora membership so I don't have to listen to commercials, can banish songs I don't like, etc."

It's funny you should ask. Jim just got me a second MP3 player. One has classical, country, 50's, 60's, 70's. Whole bunches of it. My new one has The Monkees, and only The Monkees. Very often I have the television on, but when there are no good movies, I turn to the music.

On Saturday and Sunday during the day when I do the bulk of my quilting, I listen to contemporary Christian until the kids are in bed at 7. Of an evening, I watch TV and quilt. With all that is happening in my family with my grandmother dying of Alzheimer's, the radio is so comforting. A lot of tears have gone into the quilt I'm currently making.

It's a website that you can stream music from, basically an internet radio but you can create your own "station" by picking music you like and the site will attempt to play similar music. You can "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" songs to sort of teach it what you like.
Pandora.com
You can listen for free if you don't mind commercials. I just upgraded to paid membership, I think it's something like $36 a year. They have smartphone apps too so I can take the music anywhere. I really like it!

Oh my gosh!!! I must be the odd one out! Quiet, quiet, quiet....I love the solitude when I sew! Love the hum of the machine, and the ticking of the clocks....I collect clocks, and currently my dining/sewing room has 7 clocks!

If I'm home alone, my computer is on Spotify. Mostly I listen to Les Mis, Harry Belefonte, Carol King, Cats, and oldies. I hear enough "rap" from the cars passing by, so need something to lift me up.
