    I have a cat that does the same thing when he thinks he's being ignored. If he can't sit on the side where the fabric is, he'll try for my lap, an if I'm too close to the machine with no lap available, he'll crawl up on my shoulder and perch there like a parrot. Just means he needs some 'mommy' time.
