Here is what I'm working on. It's a big string quilt for the bed in my loft. I had been making all of these somber colored quilts lately, so I thought I throw together some frilly colors for a change. The scallops are only 6" in diameter. I'm not so sure I can bind them properly, but I'll give it a shot.

tropit, I took a class last summer and finishing scalloped edges was discussed in it. The instructor said the key is to use single bias binding.

I never thought of using my selvages for a string quilt, what an interesting idea!

This is my first project completed, but it was the easiest one! I birthed it and did VERY minimal quilting on it as it's a prayer shawl and we like them to drape easily. I did take time off this morning to make meatloaf and macaroni & cheese for lunch. Tomorrow I'll throw some cooked pork in the crock pot with bbq sauce for pulled pork sandwiches and then chicken gnocchi soup in the crock pot Sunday.

Ummm...."Matchy Cheese,"...YUMMM! That's a very pretty quilt, BTW. I love the cool colors. a prayer shawl would also make for a great yoga mat. They look to be about the same size.

Well, I love your advice, my dear, but I've already started on a double binding...AUGH. I Think that it's going to be OK though. I did not trim the quilt before sewing on the binding. (I'm sewing that on now.) I'll trim the excess off later and probably go just a little scant to make way for the 2 layers of fabric.

I'm in! Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday (unplanned, I was so hoping to have the whole day tomorrow), but once I get home I'll be sitting down to quilt. I'm going to be working on quilting my irish chain quilt. I'm halfway through quilting the center. I want to finish the center this weekend, and maybe even make some headway into quilting the borders.
