I have been known in my former quilt guild as the rick rack quilter. I like the rick rack better than the half square but you have to think what would please you and who you are gifting it to. Nice job with the skinny black binding. Makes things pop on the quilt. Great Job !!

I like your final one. I also really like the black on the very outside, it completes the framing of the quilt.

Default Top is finished..... Thank you!!

Well, the top is finished! Thank you again for all your comments and suggestions. I am really happy with how it turned out! A photo of the finished top is below.

I will post another picture in the 'photos' section when it is quilted/bound. However, that will be a month or two. I plan to have each troop member sign a piece of fabric (and/or write a note to the troop leader on the fabric) using fabric paints. Then, I will piece the fabric squares together for the back.

I love your final choice. Very lucky troop leader.

I think that is an excellent choice.

The finished top looks even better than expected. You really did a great job on this. Can't wait to see the finished product and also to hear her reaction when you gift it. She may even draft you to teach a quilting workshop to the girls so they can get their patch for sewing. (Do they still even do those patches and is sewing one of them?)

Thank you. And, yes, they still do patches, however, I'm not sure if sewing is one for my daughter's age group. (She did get a sewing badge a couple years ago. Not sure if they have repeats.)
