has anyone ever used a glue stick for basting these EPP edges?

My LQS was doing a quick EPP class at one point using a glue stick for holding the edges. I don't know how easy it would be to un-stick that to remove the papers. I did not take the class, it was just a quick demo during some other event at the shop at the time.

You can machine baste but just set your stitch for the longest length which is 5 on my Bernina. There are a lot of quilters that make a test block before they start a quilting project. I have been quilting for over 25 years, and I am STILL learning new stuff so don't feel bad.

I use the Sewline glue stick for my EPP and love it. Makes for very accurate piecing.

I too use the sewline glue stick....fast, effective and the glue releases easily when it's time to remove the paper...no residue..and just a little swipe holds the seam allowance down.......no more thread basting for me....

Everything everyone said makes a lot of sense but for those who look at my pattern it calls for the whipstitching before removing the paper.when I try to remove the paper it leaves a little strip where I have whipstitched it. I guess that will have to be ok. I guess I could slide a pair of cuticle scissors under the seam and cut it out in small pieces.....

Actually the basting is only taking a couple little stitched at each point of the template. When it is time to stitch two pieces together place the back sides together and take a very, very tiny stitch in one piece then do the same in the other piece. Watch the videos in full view to get the detail and you will see what I am talking about.

Renee Please look at the video I suggested because what you are doing in the pictures you posted is not correct. It will result in a lot of frustration for you if you continue this way. Some times it just take awhile for it to all make sense.
