If you can get the book with all of the Patch Pals, you could sure have some fun with the polka dots. I just finished a Purple Teddy Bear for my Great Granddaughter and it sure turned out cute. (Friday is figuring out how to post pics) There is a puppy dog, an elephant, an owl, a fox, a raccoon, a flamingo and I'm sorry, can't remember the others.

Check out designs by JUJU she has real cute applique patterns and they are easy to use. I have made several baby quilts using them.

Here's one I made. The parents wanted a Disney theme, so I used some themed fabric with the polka dots. I added the appliqué to bring it all together. You could add a flower or something related to a them if the parents have one. The pattern is called, "OUTSIDE THE BOX and All Grown Up."It has directions for different sizes. Here a link.

I love the Patchwork Place book Animal Parade - They have some really cute quilts that would go great with polka dots.

Love the first one I.e. The polka dot bikini that has the pattern available on crafty.
I made a baby quilt with disappearing 9 patch and made it into an I spy quilt by having 5 blocks animals etc. the other 4 could be your polka dot fabrics. Do you know if she plans on using it or hanging it for decorations? Might be good to find out as it would influence the kind of quilt you might make.

I am currently making a baby girl quilt with small dresden plate and polka dots. The wedges are cut 2 1/2" and the plates are just so stinkin cute!! They are easy to make and will use a small black & white polka dot for the center circles. I'll stitch them down on a white background. Try this - dresden plates are really adorable in polka dots!!

Hope this works, not used to trying this. It is Allpeoplequilt.com, under Baby quilts. Called Around The Block, free pattern.
I've made this one with polka-dot fabric and it turned out adorable! Mother used polka dots throughout the nursery.

Would do someting quick and easy: Falling Charms with white. Then add a couple of borders.
See Missouri Quilt Co. on You Tube for instructions.
This pattern works great for any kind of "charms".

"Baby Blocks" would be cute with the polka dots.
