I don't have any suggestions about placement, I just wanted to say it's a very cool quilt. Have fun.

I love Bree's idea of a stripe on the bias for a binding!

I like both ways but the columns seem more modern for a child. I love the scrappy look you made but also like the two color versions shown on the link. I don't usually like modern but this one speaks to me, and your scrappy version gives the best of both worlds. But for the child I really like the columns best. I'd float columns on white and then use just a white border then multi-colored, diagonally striped binding, so it won't get too large for a child. It going to be lovely however you do it. Please post it under pictures when you finish it.

    1. Which do you like better, the columns separated into 3 or put together?

Personally, I like the 3 columns together.

    2. Does it need a border of white or a color?

    White border.

    3. would you move any of the blocks or change something?

I think they look pretty good. Maybe consider scattering the yellow HST's a little more - - -

    4. What would you do for binding?

    White!

I have quite a few 8 inch string blocks and tired of just putting them on point.. This will be my new quilt pattern using string blocks and a somewhat matching solid to make my HST's. Thank you for posting this.
