It sounds like you got a great deal on a barely used machine. Congratulations...new machines are so much fun! Happy quilting.

I'm still using my 4800, too. It was the same story as Cindy's that someone had gotten it new, decided it didn't have the features she wanted so traded it. I've sewn a million miles with this machine--maybe 2 million by now! It has all the features I want/need except I wish it had a serpentine stitch. There are times I wish for a bigger harp but not at the price. And like Cindy, the shop that services this machine is fantastic! Dana is another of the best for service.

You'll love it. I have the Janome 6600 Professional and it is a workhorse. Mine has 9" harp space and just those extra 3" is a big improvement for FMQ. Enjoy!

So close to getting everything ready. I finally decided to make some pressing boards and use some canvas I bought over 17 Years ago....I know, I’m an admitted fabric ‘ho. I’d had a specific project in mind when I bought the fabric, but I’d sold the house and never completed the project.

I am going to buy some new tables and a comfortable task chair. I’m planning on spending many happy hours at the machine.

I have quite a few table runners and possibly placemats planned, so I pre-washed all of my fabric. I’m thinking Christmas presents as well, so I like to pre-wash gifts. I love starch so I iron with a pretty strong 1-1 mix of Faultless and whatever fragrance l’m in the mood for and go to town. It makes my piecing accuracy so much better and I get to use up all my little 1oz fragrances. (I also make soap and lotions and things), so I have lots of sample fragrance oils that I won't use for large batches of soap.

I will be ready to break in my beautiful “Honey” soon.
