I have about 1 more evening of work to do on the quilt in my avatar. The quilt is for my sister and I think she will be pleased it. She doesn't sew at all and is always appreciative. I certainly see my "wanderings" as I am quilting in the ditch. I think "IN" is an overstatement. I have decided that nobody will be able to see the imperfections from across the room, so I'm OK with it.

What amazes me is how I don't see the mistakes when I'm making them, when it would be easier to fix. Guess it's similar to when we're frantically looking for something in the house only to have someone else point out that it's right under your nose. Sometimes another set of eyes are good (finding keys) but other times they're not (spotting quilting mistakes). Happily, most people love the results, no matter how imperfect.
this happens to me too, I don't see them untill the quilt is done.

Nope! i heard someone say once, "if you can't see it why galloping by on a horse, don't worry about it"!
( i try not to see the flaws!)

Many years ago I read an article about a quilter who was traveling through the back roads of america. At one place a lady had so of her quilts on the line. They were so beautiful that she just had to stop. She was invited in to see her other quilts and they were all quilts that had won awards. But as the lady looked at them she noticed that there were errors here and there. And she realized that they weren't given awards because they were perfect but because they were made with love and everyone of them had a story to tell.

And that's the quilts I want to make.

Washing and drying hide some imperfections. I am still trying make the perfect quilt, DD says there is no such thing. If I tell her a mistake/mistakes she says, "You won't be able to see it from your house". I give most away, if I keep it, I never see the mistakes. I guess I only look that close before I wash and dry them.

I get so frustrated. I want to make nice quilts sooo badly, I buy every gadjet to help me, have wonderful sewing machines and try really hard...but my projects just dont seem to be getting any better. I look at the quilts on here and think, now why cant I do that? I just keep trying.

Keep at it Margie. Every time I think I have gotten good, something happens* to humble me, reminding me that I still have a lot to learn and to enjoy it while I do.
*went to trim my block for a swap and found out they were 1/2" short so I had to make a new set for the swap.
