    Most quilt shops have a longarm class now that is reasonable and then you can rent it by the hour for your larger projects !!

    Sewhip, I have a designer 1 and I quilt all of my quilts with my machine. I use the embroidery unit and "quilt" instead of embroidery, works great! You start in the center and work your way to the outside edges. Good luck on whatever method you choose to quilt.
