    My first two quilt tops were rail fences (this was about two months ago). I highly recommend it for an easy beginning quilt. :) It goes together quick and is very simple.

    Rail fence........that pattern is so easy and yet looks great when it comes together. You just don't have all the points to line up and worry about, etc. Whatever you choose, don't get discouraged....

    Yes, Rail Fence is a great beginner quilt....no seams to match :)

    I would look here for a pattern that you would think of as
    easy for a beginner :D

    Rail Fence is not that easy! Lots of seams to match when putting the rows together. I would recommend a no matching seam quilt like this one:

    I am in the process of starting a quilt with 48 12" blocks with three colors and three fabric designs. I went to Quilter's Cache and checked on the size of the block and then I went to each design and found how many colors were used and picked out my 48 blocks. It is a sampler, however, you could pick out one design and do that one. Each block tells how many colors you need and it works like a charm. Edie

    it also lists the difficulty..1 "pin" easy or beginner. and you can look by name of the block or by the size! great site!
