The beginner messed it up big time

Girlfriend, it is your quilt. Your project. Your work. Do you know how many people I know who say "I am going to try to start quilting" or "I wish I could quilt, might start one day" - And here you are already out there cutting and stitching and making a lovely item!
Every project has its own personality, and you will do things differently from one project to another.
We learn with EACH ONE.
All of them will be lovely.
Trim it up, bind it up, put it on the table, serve tea, and Love yourself!!
It's beautiful.

Well I think it looks really nice. Trim the other side to match and you're good to go. Plus, once you put a binding on it, no one will ever know. And it's yours, so you can always say that you intended it to be that way!

Please don't put yourself down. I have always wanted to try this pattern and have never dared and I've been quilting for over 20 years! Please tell us you finished it. Like all the others said, just trim both long sides to measure the same and quilt and bind it--no one will be the wiser. show us your finished project. This is how we learn to fix things!

I agree with most others, strighten the edge up, Ive done that many many times!, Heck I did it 4 times on the weekend!
If you are worried about the width, you can always put a skinny border on before you bind. It still looks fabulous!

My mom was a master seamtress. She made a lot of mistakes and some were unfixable (like the negligee she made that was sheer in the back vs. the front and the velveteen dress she made and cut with one side brushed up and the other side brushed down) but she wore them anyway with a smile. As a result, I love my mistakes and I've made some doozies!
So smile, it's uniquely your own and will look great when it's finished!
