This is an interesting blog post about dropping feed dogs for free motion quilting: http://freemotionquilting.blogspot.c...-question.html

And if you get a minute, watch a couple of her videos. Her quilting is amazing.

Last month, May, I joined in with the dolls quilt swop for the first time and it was so much fun...I have signed up again.
I wanted to thank goldsberry921 for the lovely quilt and other bits that she sent me including fabric that is already put away in my stash...., she is a newbie to the board, the swop and sewing and sent me a lovely quilt....the first in my collection of dolls quilts.
This board is great for meeting people and sharing experiences....thank you

I have entered the above post with pictures of the lovely quilt in the pictures section under the heading dolls quilt swop.....love this swop

Oooh aren't I the lucky one!!!
Look at this gorgeous doll quilt from Dragonfly Nana, I love it and have already hung it up in my sewing room. She also sent me some goodies, I love blue and I really LOVE Batiks . Thanks you so much for being such a wonderful partner, Dragonfly Nana and for brightening up a rather cold and breezy, almost winter's day.

There is a plate specially made to cover the feeddogs, however I have one and don't use it. I just loosen the screw on the top left of the machine and it makes the FMQ much easier to do. I put the stitch length in the middle on 0. I also use a quilting or embroidery (darning) foot. To me, I never knew it would be this easy. If I can help you, please let me know.

Twinkie - Would you mind sharing how you do FMQ on your Featherweight? What do you do since the feed dogs don't drop? Do you just cover them with something?

I control the length of the stitch by moving the quilt. If you go a little faster, it is easier to control the size of the stitch.
