I may be wrong but I suspect as the economy declines so does the profit margin therefore fabric manufacturers will buy less expensive fabric blanks to help them survive the tough times. The less expensive the blank the lower the thread count.

Please make sure to thoroughly wash your baby quilts before using if they contain the chain store fabrics. Many of those fabrics are treated with formaldehyde to 'plump up' the fibers. This was told to be by OSHA.

Oh, this is so sad to hear. It seems like the quality of everything has deteriorated just to save money. I'm thankful now, not guilty, that I have a huge stash. I'll have to be more selective in the future when purchasing new fabric.

So you think its because of the price of cotton going up that the quality has gone down? Just like grocery stores, prices are staying the same but less product.

Be brave, ladies! There are countries where fabric costs much more than here (Europe, Australia) or where good cotton is barely available. Did people stop quilting during the Depression? No, just the opposite. For many, many, years quilters made beautiful things out of almost nothing and we still do that (witness the Gee's Bend ladies).

American made chocolate has lots of soy lecithin and fillers now...very little real chocolate goes into it..especially Hersheys...
maybe that explains why in the last year giving up chocolate has been easier....I've not given it up completely but I sure don't crave it like I use to.

Things are no longer made in the usa, and quality control is impossible. Cotton is being mixed with inferior grades at the mills, and we are just going to have to adapt.
