Spiffy,
We used a Shape Cut for a class I took. The teacher suggested we buy these small sandpaper dots to apply to the ruler around the edges to keep it anchored to the fabric. Works like a charm!!

The Joann's here has a few of them. I have the fat one and the longer one for cutting strips. When you have over 2,000 pieces to cut for a quilt, they really, REALLY come in handy!

BTW, I love your piano quilt in your avatar. Best wishes!

It is funny that you mention this tool. I have had one for years and never used it. Now that you have rated it, I think it is coming out of it's hiding place.
Thanks bunches,

Me too. I've had this ruler and have yet to use. Watched the video and am amazed at the ease of use.
I'm digging it out now!!!
Purchased it at Hancock when it was 50% off.

Joann's has them listed at $63.99. Even at 50% off that is a lot. I will cut them the regular way thank you.

I've got a coupon and I'm going to pick up this great tool right away!

Thanks for your help.
Is your coupon for in store purchases only or can it be used online? The closest quilt shop I have is 1 1/2 hours away so I buy most of my items online. This sounds like something I'd like to add to my collection of tools.

It was a large sheet with slots 2 1/2 inches apart. You could cut accurate 2 1/2 in strips in just seconds with this ruler, template, cutting tool or whatever it's called. It looked like the measurements were 24x24.

I found something similar on the Quilt in Day website:
http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponlin...lay.asp?i=1884
but I know what Eleanor used was larger because she folded her fabric in half and was able to cut the entire length of fabric and it was also square.

While I was looking I also found this great resource:

I hope someone knows where to find this because it would certainly save a lot of time while ensuring accuracy. Thanks for any help you can give me.
I have a slotted ruller that I think is the same you are talking about. I purchased mine at Hancock's and it has increments of 1/2" wide up. I use it a lot. You can also find these at WalMart, but not the 1/2" theirs are usually only in inch increments. I haven't seen EB's but I am sure it is the same just larger than what you are looking at. Did you check out her catalog site?

Go to El's Quilt Shop and check out her online catalog. I have that saved in my favorites on my pc and just went there. She has 3 different slotted rulers ther, and one very large on. I'll bet that's what you are looking for. It could be listed as El's Quilt Shop.com, not sure, I accidently came across it looking for something else one day, but it is Eleanor Burn's quilt shop.
