Has anyone tried to cut their cutting mat smaller?

when the middle wears out, I take kitchen shears and cut pieces off - make nice travel mats

I used my pampered chef spring loaded kitchen shears. They cut through anything! I had to cut off the part that got warped after some time in a hot car. Lesson learned...never loan your favorite mat out! lol

My DH trimmed mine to fit with a very sharp knife and a straightedge.

If your hubby has a band saw it is great for cutting them.

I have the same issue (in the 36" direction) but I just let it hang off. I'm careful not to press down on the part that isn't supported by the table.

Great minds think alike. I cut one of my old (smaller) mats and put it on a board on top of one of those lazy susans you use in cabinets. Works well and much cheaper than buying one of those turn-table cutting mats. Take care!
