I'd have the kids sort them into dark, light, and medium first.

That is my thought. I've been working on a my scraps as leader and enders as I'm working on another quilt. I was amazed at how many I had completed in just 1 week. I'll have the scrap quilt done in no time at this rate.

You could do a 4P rag quilt.

I love scrappy but I'm not where I can just throw it all together. I'd probably have to sort it all into color groups first. Of course if you group the squares into 4, 9, or16 patches you could unite them with sashing.

Just have to say that I use our ping pong table as a layout table too! My sons and their friends have learned to be very respectful of my blocks if they ever need to move them.

I thought of doing scrap quilts and name them "I heart blue" - blue scraps of course, or " I heart brown" all brown scraps.

The trip around the world quilt is good, or do 4-patch blocks with white sashing in between, or random patches, the possibilities are endless. Good luck, as you have a huge stash of 4" squares.
