LOL that is just too funny.

I got on a Hawaiian shirt kick for awhile and noticed them everywhere. Found a bunch at thrift stores that really worked well for a quilt.

I love we get our fabrics and inspirations from the world around us!

This very day, I had a scrubs top folded up on the back of the couch to show my 16yr. old GD who is going off to college in August. They are busily trying to "wardrobe" her. I only wore it two times and now have outgrown it, ( nicely put), and I told myself, I know she won't want it, really, and when she refuses it, I am going to cut it up as it was a really neat blotched pattern of mostly blue with bits of gold and red in it . Wouldn't you know, she tried it on and said, "I'll take it". Oh, well, I have way too much fabric as it is...but, it would have been neat in a small quilt.

I am sooo where you are about beautiful fabrics I see on other people. I also see beautiful quilts in the neckties worn by men.

I find myself doing the same thing. I will be talking to someone at work and all the while I have visions of seeing their shirt in pieces.

I love using novelty prints in my quilts, since I make mostly children's charity quilts. I too have said to total strangers that some item of clothing they're wearing would look wonderful in a quilt. They give me strange looks. lol
There's a song that Cathy Miller, the singing quilter, sings on one of her albums about the DH who's reduced to boxers and a shirt and no sheets on the bed because his wife has cut them all up for quilts.

My daughter works for a vet, therefore our house is full of used scrubs. I took them, cut them up, and made a cute quilt entirely out of her scrubs. I even made the backing for it from the scrubs. She loves it. The patterns were all so cute and this has a lot of memories for her to keep.
