Feline Fanatic - is that Vilandi a glazed cotton? I am not seeing that anywhere - and i could be missing it.

That's what i love about the YLI - the glazed cotton.

Seems everyone is slamming Coats and Clark but I will throw this out anyway. I tried their Bold Hand Quilting as they had the exact color I needed and I could buy it locally. It is on a teal spool at Jo-Ann's. Personally, I love it. And anyone who is having a problem with twisting or knotting, when you pull your needle through, slow down a bit and the thread will not knot. Who knew it would be gigantic!!!!

I don't believe it is but I hand quilted a labor intensive queen size with it and had no issues (picture below). But I am also in the habit of running my thread through bees wax (the advantages of having a DH who keeps bees)

I used to use the Coats quilting thread when I first start quilting many years ago, now I use regular Dual Duty thread, I like to hand quilt matching thread color to the fabric and the regular thread has many more color option and it is easier to make small stitches, plus I really don't notice any difference in the quilting.

I totally agree with Ninnie, I have tried them all and still come back to C&C unless others are on sale cheaper.

If you are going to put in all that time hand quilting, use a good quality thread as suggested. The stitches will hold much better.

Wow, Feline Fantastic! What beautiful quilting! I'd never heard of Vilandi before. Looks like they have a lot of great colors -- that Marine blue would be perfect to bind the quilt I'm finishing now. You are so right about checking how many yards/meters come on a spool. I used to feel so badly about "splurging" on Aurifil over Gutermann thread until I realized that you get twice the length with the Aurilfil per spool (yes, it is a 2 ply instead of a 3 ply, but that's what I want anyways); turns out there's barely any difference in price between the two.

I used to buy the Americana branded glaced thread, but apparently it's not being made anymore. Signature is made by the same company, but I don't care for it. So interesting that the Vilandi comes in 35wt. Can't wait to give it a try!
