I have been using Kaye Woods 6 hour quilt technique, but I don't use a serger.

There are other methods using sashing between the blocks and rows, but I found that could get a little thick. I will use that method occasionally, if I have to.

I think it takes a long time too, but it works for me. I worked on this off and on for 2 1/2 months.

Well, even when I am making it, I get a little tired of all the small pieces busyness. That is why I will do the traditional blocks around the edges or sometimes just long strips. Works for me.

I made some rag quilts a few years, and I had to spend days just cutting those blocks before I even got started. That just about killed me. I tend just to pick out fabrics as I go (from what I already have from previous purchases - sometimes larger pieces, sometimes small pieces of fabrics I just like.)
