I like to make primary color quilts. My favorite is a unicorn on a green hill with a rainbow behind it. I made this quilt for my first born and she still has it! In fact, she took it with her to college and to law school and said it gave her comfort on the 'bad' days. I always wash in cool water and haven't had too much of a fade problem, even over the long years.

Gray and turquoise would be nice IMHO but I also painted my daughters room blue but it was an under the sea theme so it was a lot of turquoise and pastels for the sea creatures

The first colors baby see are black, white and red contrasts. Stimulates brain activity!

I ask the mom-to-be what color she is going to paint the nursery, and go with that. Good luck! They'll love whatever you choose.

I saw the cutest baby quilt ever and it is gender neutral. I bought the pattern, but haven't made it yet. It appears to be about 42 inches square.

You could always wait until the baby arrives and make the quilt.

While both of these families knew what the gender was - they both wanted bright baby quilts. Both were fun to make and I backed both with flannel. Here are the links:

Will the baby have its own room and, if so, what colors have they chosen.

Be me, I'd pick a soft pastel yellow and gray or yellow and sage plaid alternating with white 9 patch or, if you're so inclined, single irish chain.

My DIL and son have also decided not to find out the gender. She has suggested a gray and yellow quilt. Those colors seem to be the "in" thing right now. On Pinterest, I have found several gray and yellow baby quilts with elephants on them which are adorable. Non-quilters think that appliques are complicated, but I think they're easy to do!
