I found the recipe. I was wrong. It's not the best in NYC -- it's rated the BEST IN THE WORLD!! It's not the real thing but comes close!

Almost Junior's Cheesecake

1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
1/2 c. heavy cream
1/4 c. half and half
2 Tb. sour cream
4 eggs
1-1/2 lb. cream cheese, softened
2 lemon rinds
1 orange rind
5/8 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

1) Preheat oven to 375 deg. F. Start by grating the lemon and orange rinds. Butter an 8-inch round springform pan and sprinkle it on the inside with the crumbs.

2) In a mixer at med. speed (make sure not to use high speed), beat together the cream cheese, grated lemon and orange rinds and vanilla. Slowly add the heavy cream and sugar, then the eggs until everything is well mixed. Then beat in the half and half and sour cream until everything is nice and smooth.

3) Now pour this mixture into your pan, set the pan in a larger one, and pour boiling water around it. It will be easier if you do this right in the oven rack. Bake 1-1/4 hours. Be careful not to over-bake or the cheesecake will come out dry. It should be still a little wobbly in the middle. Now remove the smaller pan from the larger one and let it cool to room temperature, then put in fridge for a couple of hours until it's cold. Get together with loved ones and enjoy! You'll feel like you're right in Brooklyn at Junior's!!

If you try it, let others know it's the best!! Bravo to Zhava in NYC for submitting this recipe! Thank you, Zhava Glaser!!!

:D :D

Wow looks great! Thank you. I am definitely going to have to try this. Have you made is before? Did you have pretty good success with it?

I haven't tried her recipe yet but if I do I would increase the eggs to about 6 and the cream cheese to 2 lb. and the sour cream to 1/2 c. as the cheesecake is very dense, tall, rich and IMO it will require these additions, but I am sure her recipe is a close second to Junior's. The amount of cheesecakes sold at Junior's in one day is staggering but can't remember the figure!! I am sure it will be a delight! Let me know how it turns out!! bol. n2.

p.s. BTW, it closely resembles the pic in my avatar today! Just had to change the pic to cheesecake!!

Do you want a baked cheesecake recipe or refrigerated, not baked? I have both; be glad to share.
