I thought it was funny they wanted me to answer that, but they wanted it mailed in before that date LMBO

The census form we received was quite simple...name, birthdate, ethnicity, etc. My irritation is with all the advertising money that has been spent for this.
Also, a year ago we were 'informed' that our household had been selected for more in-depth scrutiny. Quarterly, for the past year, a census worker has either been to our home, or called, and asked all kinds of very nibby questions. I was polite but I did not appreciate the questions. And they were very repetitive...things like employment, health insurance, how often do you go to the dr, how much money do you have in the bank, how much do you owe on cr cards, etc. And, we were told that there was no choice to opt out of being one of the households. The year is up...thank goodness. I will tell you very honestly...that I found the questions very disturbing.

I know they ask for the heredity thing so that they know the actual populace... but they don't give enough options with that either... like... there should be a line calles, hispanic/latin/white... my sister IS MIXED! she's half mexican and half white... I'm part native american and white... (not that i could prove the native american... someone stole our papers *cough*2ndevilaunt*cough*) but there is no place to put those things...
BUT they do get quite personal!

I had the short form also and it was pretty quick and easy...
but I did get a chuckle from the one question....
does this person ever stay somewhere else occasionally . I put down no for my son and told him to tell his girlfriend not to claim him at her place   LOL

When that federal money is handed out, it's the info from the census that determines who gets how much, I believe. If nobody from"XYZ" Road returned their completed forms, then there's no reason to think anyone lives there, therefore no money will be going to fund projects on "XYZ" road. I'm hoping everyone on my road returned theirs, because I'm hoping the gov. will send money to fix the potholes in our road.
I have also enjoyed checking the old census reports for geneaology purposes.

They had to get permission from our tribe to shorten our tribal name to fit on the census form.
It's "The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan", the tribal council allowed them to use "Saginaw Chippewa" so it would fit.
