My first passion is to hand stitch also.

You have done beautiful work.

Have you ever checked out Inklingo? Wonderful site for hand stitchers/piecers.

There are free patterns on that site and you will spend hours there absorbing all Linda Franz has to tell about hand quilting.
There is also a very helpful Yahoo group all about Inklingo, and also several very good blogs to read.

Right now I am working on the "free" 4.5 inch LeMoyne Star. Next on to the "Double Wedding Ring".
