My hubby is retired from there now, but we were both in the USMC, too.

OMG, that is awesome hand quilting!!! This requires patience that I don't have, unfortunately. You do beautiful work.

My first passion is to hand stitch also.

    You have done beautiful work.

Have you ever checked out Inklingo? Wonderful site for hand stitchers/piecers.

There are free patterns on that site and you will spend hours there absorbing all Linda Franz has to tell about hand quilting.
There is also a very helpful Yahoo group all about Inklingo, and also several very good blogs to read.

    www.inklingo.com or www.lindafranz.com

Right now I am working on the "free" 4.5 inch LeMoyne Star. Next on to the "Double Wedding Ring".

    Good luck on your recovery.
