That fawn is just barely the same size as the horses head. It almost looks like more of a toy than a real animal. That is just soooo cool how every animal seems to know when something is sooo small and vunerable and the gentle ones are even more gentle to someone soo small.
Talking about that my shelty will play really rough with me and my brother but when my neice and nephew pick up her toy to play tug of war with her she doesn't pull as hard or shake or play growl as loudly as she would with me or another grownup. When my sister-in-law saw that she said "that dog knows when she needs to be more gentle. She is just really smart." And that coming from my sister in law is pretty cool. I have to agree though that Shelly is a very smart girl and she does know a lot of things. People just don't always give animals enough credit about that type of thing though.

During this time of year we must be very careful when mowing our place, the fawns, when they are first born are so hard to see in the grass..I mean carpet grass...they are so tiny..the mother usually gives birthin a safe place and stays around...out of site, but close..it is amazing to me how she locates them again. Usually the fawn lays quietly so they don't attract attention..yes, we are so lucky to have theis around us.

Is that just the sweetest thing?! I am surprised that the mama didn't go crazy over that.

Awwwww - makes your heart just swell, doesn't it? I bet those horses are mares and mommies themselves. They just know to be gently. Love seeing this.

She was probably wondering why she was suddenly being ignored and not cuddled.
