As long as they are 100% cotton, and not a blend, I have used shirts in quilts...and have bought some at resale shops if I like the colors...I love the feel of the shirtings...and they work well with repro fabrics that I like using most of the time.

I've used them. I found some to be too thin for my taste, but other than that,no problems.

I too am gathering clothing from DH's gmom to make a quilt to honor her.His step-mom is sending me boxes of clothing to cut up and use. She doesn't want the quilt back which is who I was making it for. Maybe by the time I finish it she will change her mind as pink is not one of my favorite color. Will just have to wait and see what happens.

HOpe you went back and got the shirts. If they were reasonable I would have, think of the stash! I made a quilt out of men'd flannel shirts and backed with feece. It is the most wonderfully warm quilt ever.

Here's one I have been working on. I wanted to make a red, white and blue quilt, and wanted to try making string blocks on foundations. I bought all the shirts at a thrift store.
I want to make it wider to fit my king size mattress, but am stuck at present on how to do that as it doesn't need to be much longer.

quilting librarian, maybe add a thin border to the top and bottom so you can add binding without losing the points on your geese, but a bigger border on the sides to achieve the width that you want.

curious to see what other recommend.
