they say foil in the windows is a sure sign of a crack house or meth lab...these days, that would mean about 80% of the town falls into those categories...wonder if that is why the cops have been patrolling our neighborhood more often..ehhehe

DH said our last bill was $638 or around that, it's paid automatically so I'd have to look online to be sure. I keep the house at 72 degrees. I don't like to be hot in the house. It hasn't been below 100 in weeks. The pool is going all day but it's too hot to swim.

Our bill was 161.00 for around 1500 sq ft, which thrilled me. I was expecting much higher.

$556.56 ouch! In fact, the solar energy sales schmuck is coming over on Saturday to sell us on solar energy. They claim our payment will be $250.00/mo for the panels, plus $1 per month to stay attached to the energy grid. That payment for up to 7 years, then only $1 per month forever...we'll see.

Ours was $199, but I expect August to be worse. This is for 1200 square feet.

So far this year, we have had 43 days now of 100 degree plus days. And no rain. Our Elec. only this month for in an 1800 sq ft house was $464.00. We keep it around 75 degrees. Our unit is 10 yrs old. We have had energy efficient windows installed last year. We were told by the installers not to cover the windows with foil or such because it will break the seals in the window. We do have mini blinds that are kept shut and have plantation shudders in the dining room. We do not have the hot tub running this year but do have landscape lighting. I hate these high bills. Grrrrrrr

We also have a small house. Ours is a downsize retirement house......& that helps keep the utility bills reasonable. This yr that is.
Wanted to say congrats on your wt loss. Know it's not easy.

How does $145 for one month in a one bedroom apartment sound.. I'm not home all day, and leave it running at 80.. While home it's 73.. While sleeping it's 70.. My attitude is that I work very hard, and I need to be comfortatble while at rest.. I'm also running the ceiling fans.
