I'm just going to throw my two cents worth in here, and then go quietly away. Think real hard about how much you are letting your friend influence what you really want to do with your quilting, because that's what it is, your quilting, not hers. If your gut is telling you that you need to have a project that can be finished so you can show it off, and doing something with no completion date in sight feels daunting, then follow your instincts. They will lead you in the right direction. Much better that you do something small, and learn to love quilting, than that you become so frustrated with the process that an unfinished quilt sits unfinished because you gave up on it. Make what you want to make, and only what you want to make, and not what your friend wants to talk you in to making, and that's the first step towards success in quilting. Now I'm going to shut up and go quietly away. Best Wishes!

Hi Gloria! Welcome from a fellow Kansan (living in Texas). Worked in Overland Park for about 9 years. Beautiful city and my youngest still lives there, in Mission, Ks. Maybe we will meet up one of these days. I wish you all the luck with your quilting. I would start smaller than a full quilt. Lap quilt is good, and needed when watching TV in the winter :)
